IOS
The IPhone operating system also known as IOS, is used in many of apple's devices like the iPhone iPad and iPod. The versions of IOS include IOS 1, IOS 2, IOS 3, IOS 4, IOS 5, IOS 6, IOS 7, and the most current version, IOS 8.
IOS 1
In 2007 IOS 1 was released as the running system for the very first IPhone. It couldn't do very much, but what features it did have were considered incredible at the time, it started the pinch and expand to zoom in feature, you could browse the internet, and use a handful of built in apps preinstalled by apple. You really couldn't do much with your iPhone at this point, but it was a great starting point to expand on for many more versions to come.

About a year later in 2008, IOS 2 was rolled it. It brought the App Store, enabling you to directly buy and download apps to your phone. IOS 2 also brought some minor updates to the pre-installed apple apps. Microsoft Exchange was added so you could access your calendar and emails from your device.

2012, IOS 6 came with a lot of "under the hood updates" with Siri getting updates, iCloud, and many more of apples pre-installed apps. Apple released its own version of google maps called Apple maps. Its like google maps and gives navigation and directions to your location, but it was not successful as many usesr looked for backups until google maps was put back into the app store.

This update completely changed the face of IOS, changing the the entire design to make it look smoother. In notfications, when you pull down a new, "today tab" will appear that show all of the stuff you missed today, and control center was added that lets you access your most used settings from anywhere on your phone. Air Drop was also added, which allows you to receive pictures from nearby friends or people in your area.

The keyboard was updated so now while your typing it will try and guess words for you to make the process faster. With family sharing, it allows you to share your account with your family so you can all buy apps, games, books, all from the same account. Spotlight search was also updated, now searching into Wikipedia and nearby places.
