Windows Phone
The Windows Phone operation system is fairly new and is commonly known for its use on the Nokia Lumia device series. There are currently only 4 versions of the operating system which are, Windows Phone 7, 7.8, 8, and 8.1. Windows Phone started at 7 because it was trying to match the phone os with their current computer operating system which is Windows 7.
Windows Phone 7
Windows Phone 7 is the first version of the OS. It was also known as the “NoDo” update. Loading times for apps was made faster, the copy and paste feature was added, allowing you to drag an arrow over the words you wanted and copy them. The store was updated to make the search process easier, Facebook was added, the camera was also improved when swapping between video and camera mode. A few other special updates were also added to certain phones and would only be available on those phones.

In this update, Email threads and a voicemail problem was fixed. A Google Sync issue was fixed, a location issue was fixed and an keyboard issue was fixed to prevent it from going away while typing on it. Text messaging updates were added that allowed you to now be able to add pictures, videos, ringtones, and a few other types of media to your messages.

Windows Phone 7.8
7.8 being the last update for Windows 7 devices. In this update the start screen now has live tiles you can adjust for your apps and games. The number of theme colors were changed to 20, the lock screen now has the Bing image of the day feature, the fonts for different languages has been improved and the windows phone and Xbox store has expanded support to more countries.

Windows Phone 8
In Windows Phone 8 this update was only available on newer phones meaning, you could not get Windows Phone 8 if your device had any version of Windows Phone 7 on it. This update included the option to send a text to incoming calls you could not accept, fixes to Internet Explorer, Skype and messaging was improved, making you able to send a text out to more than one person at a time. Driving mode and a lot of other basic updates we added.

Dual Sim support, you can project your phone screen, more columns to the start screen were added, Word Flow keyboard which makes typing easier because you can just swipe your fingers over the letters you want, Burst mode for the camera and quiet hours were added. Also Cortana was added, Cortana is Windows Phone version of Siri and Google Now, Cortana in this update is in a beta state but still could call, text, and find stuff on the internet for you. Folders and the Action center was added, the action center is where you swipe down on your screen and all your notifications will appear.
